The FreightDATA General Ledger application, the
"Heart" of the Financial System, maintains the ledger which provides a
cumulative analysis of the effects of accounting transactions.
The General Ledger
application maintains a separate Transaction File for each period. Additionally,
a period may be reopened for adjustments and closed again as often as needed.
The system automatically adjusts the balance forwards. An accounting period does
not have to be closed before entering transactions for a new period.
Transactions to
general journals are recorded using this application. A special feature is
provided for reversing amounts into a different accounting period. Recurring
journals may be established and automatically posted.
The Financial
Statement application provides special management reporting capabilities. All
reports (Income Statements, Balance Sheet, etc.) are prepared from a user
defined format. Unlimited reports can be composed from any information found in
the system. Statements can be produced before the month is closed and current
year and/or prior year reports may be created at any time.
The Chart of Accounts
is created and maintained by the General Ledger application: General Ledger
Account Maintenance and Inquiry.
The history file -
Account History Maintenance, contains the monthly budget vs. actual of current
and prior year for each account number.
